Planting New California Natives

I have just planted a few new California Natives and they fit just right with the rest of them. I got Deer grass and Yarrow. They were in regular nursery sized pots just like most of the other natives. We bought them at San Gabriel Nursery and I spent my own money on them. However, these natives I have actually seen on wild California hills. They grow everywhere on cliff sides too. I hope that these natives thrive and can grow strong and heathy. I gave all of the plants a very deep watering because it is the middle of Summer and they need all of the water that they can get. It is getting super hot but I think that they will be fine. Here are some pictures of the plants and where I planted them on the hill. The top photos are of the yarrow, the middle photos are of the deer grass and the bottom photos are of them together inside of their pots.

Yarrow is a tall and lanky plant that just grows toward the ground. Its conditions are part shade and part sun so I put it in the perfect spot. It also has many different colors of flowers that are very beautiful when they are together. My yarrow has Red and Pink flowers. The deer grass is just a little bush that is very light and not thick at all. Sometimes when they die, they turn into tumble weeds. They have small yellow flowers and are very flimsy. They have to get established before it can grow really big. He can take a lot of sun so I put him in an all day sun spot. Hopefully both of these plants are happy and I hope I chose good spots for these plants.
