My Trip to Taiwan

I recently went to Taiwan where we stayed for one month. The weather was very different. It was very hot and humid. Most of the plants were tropical and I didn’t know what they were. Those plants would not survive here in California. It’s too dry. Here are some pictures from our trip and some of the plants we stumbled across. I learned some new plants that are native in Taiwan such as Ma An Tung, Night Scented Lily, and Ivy Tree. The climate was so moist and humid that trees from California have moss and ferns growing everywhere on them. Every tree has some sort of vine growing on them too. There were just so many interesting and fascinating plants. Plants with different colored berries, and so many colorful flowers and fruits. There was this one type of tree that was really lush and had perfect little leaves. We don’t know what it is called, but it is very pretty. The first two weeks, we stayed in an airbnb and in the corner of the living room, there was a very pretty plant that we really wanted to know what it was. My mom used her plant identifier app and it said it was some kind of tea plant. After noticing that, we started seeing the same plants on the sides of the streets or in pots in front of stores. We really wanted that plant to be in our house because it was the perfect plant. We came across so many plants and flowers that I didn’t even know existed. But after coming back home from California, I have collected some more knowledge on plants. Here are some pictures to help you get an idea on what we did and a few plants.

We went with my aunt and uncle to a lily pad farm. I was mind blown at first, there were so many lily pads and flowers. the flowers were huge and beautiful. There were blue flowers and many different shades of pink flowers. When we went into the farm, we walked down a path that led to so many lily pads and flowers. It was a very pretty sight. There were even banana trees with banana flowers. I had never seen a banana flower before. They were either pink or purple. We walked through the whole farm taking many cool pictures. Then, we went to take pictures on the giant lily pads. When I first got on, I was kind of scared. I was in the middle of a pond on a lily pad. We paid to get on the lily pad too. He said we could only take fifteen photos but we ended up taking about fifty photos. After that, it started to get pretty hot. While we were walking toward the exit, we came across a giant squash hanging from a vine. I almost hit my head on it! When we walked out, we got some bamboo rice, special lotus xiao long bao, some lotus shave ice, and lotus ice cream! Honestly, I am not a big fan of lotus stuff. When we were done, we got in the car and started driving home. On the way though, we drove past tons more lotus fields so we took some more photos there.

Well, those are some pictures of a few things we did during the trip. It was really fun! I learned a lot more about plants and I am very fascinated on all the plants and how most of them are so different than the plants here in California. Everything is so different and I learned so much. I am really glad we took that trip. My brain is full of knowledge. I hope you liked this extra long blog! I sure like writing it. It brought back all of our trips memories. Writing about plants, it just makes me appreciate plants more!
